Renogy
Find Your Energy Freedom
A solar hardware company selling specs in a category of specs. We moved the brand off watt-hours and onto the feeling people actually buy: the freedom to go anywhere and stay powered.

- 1.5Bmedia impressions
- Sold-out product relaunch
- Global market expansion
The challenge
Renogy competed on watt-hours, cycle counts and price against a wall of near-identical competitors. Every brand in the category sold the same sentence, so customers shopped on discount and nothing stuck.
What we did
We reframed the category around what the hardware makes possible instead of what it contains. Energy freedom became the platform: three words customers could repeat, a creative system built for the road rather than the spec sheet, and a content engine handed to the off-grid community that already lived the story.
The consequence
The platform traveled further than paid media could carry it. Van-life and overland creators adopted the language unprompted, the relaunch sold through, and the brand moved from commodity supplier to the default recommendation in off-grid communities worldwide.
The work itself.

Scored on the
consequential triangle.
- Talkability
- "Energy freedom" gave customers a three-word phrase to repeat — and van-life creators repeated it for free, unprompted, at scale.
- Defensibility
- Competitors could match the hardware but not the ownership of freedom as a category idea, anchored to a real product advantage in portability.
- Indispensability
- The brand became the default recommendation inside off-grid communities. Absence would have left a hole no spec sheet fills.
Your turn.
