Saatient Therapeutics

A Name That Carries the Science

We named and built a biotech brand whose wordmark contains its own mechanism of action.

Saatient Therapeutics — A Name That Carries the Science
  • Naming and identity
  • Full brand system
  • Mechanism-of-action wordmark

The challenge

A new biotech working on bone marrow cancer needed a name and identity in a category drowning in interchangeable primary-color logos and invented Latin syllables.

What we did

We created "Saatient" — SAA, the protein their therapy blocks, folded into a respelling of "sentient": having realization, perception, knowledge. The wordmark shows the mechanism, with a line blocking the dot of the "i" from its stem. The system paired Baskerville Old Face with Brandon Text, used a vibrant palette deliberately outside the biotech norm, and set photography direction around innovation, culture and life with clean, modern scientific illustration.

The consequence

A brand that carries the science in its name and its mark, distinctive on a slide, a lab coat or a term sheet.

The work itself.

Scored on the
consequential triangle.

Talkability
A name whose story explains the science gets retold in every meeting.
Defensibility
The mark is tied to their specific protein target — nobody else can use it.
Indispensability
Investors and recruits remember the company, not the category.
